Facility manages three outdoor ice rinks, two of them serve as recreational ones and other is speed skating track. Operating time is from November to beginnig of March. Refrigerating system consists of ammonia chiller which is cooling the secondary refrigerating circuit filled with glycol solution. Thesis evaluates the refrigerating system in reference to avalible technologies, legal aspects and environmental impact. The main requirements for ice rinks applications are shown as well as the possibilities to improve energetic efficiency in similar instalations. Basing on electric energy usage data, maximal electric power demand and total seasonal energy consumption for refrigeration was estimated.
