Within a year his "Histoire" was translated into English and German, six editions were printed between and Lescarbot frequently visited the local Micmac Souriquois settlements. The Histoire is a summation of what was then known about French America.
His influence was significant and this work was the first great history of Canada. Biggar has called him the "French Hakluyt," and G. Marc Lescarbot c. He is best known for his Histoire de la Nouvelle-France , based on his expedition to Acadia ? Considered one of the first great books in the history of Canada, it was printed in three editions, and was translated into German. Lescarbot also wrote numerous poems. Jean de Biencourt de Poutrincourt, who was associated with the Canadian enterprises of the Sieur Du Gua de Monts, invited Lescarbot to accompany them on an expedition to Acadia in New France, and he quickly accepted.
The party reached Port-Royal in July and spent the remainder of the year there. Lescarbot recorded the numbers from one to ten in the Maliseet language, together with making notes on the native songs and languages. When de Monts's licence was revoked in the summer of , the whole colony had to return to France.
Inspired by seeing parts of the New World, he wrote an extensive history of the French settlements in the Americas, the Histoire de la Nouvelle-France. The first edition was published in Paris in , by the bookseller Jean Millot. Lescarbot's history of de Monts' ventures in Acadia was original work. Lescarbot was a French writer and lawyer who spent the winter of at Port Royal, Acadia. Also included is much information concerning the Indian tribes, especially those of northeastern Canada, to whom the second book in this English edition is devoted.

All the many works Bergeron translated and wrote about trips to Tartary, have been compiled in this volume, first printed in Each of the parts that compose this volume has its own frontispiece and the text displayed in two columns.
It includes several information on navigation instruments and methods, and references on the subject from many ancient authors. There are detailed descriptions of the first voyages of discovery undertaken by the Portuguese, Spaniards, British, Dutch and French, highlighting the presence of the French in Canada and the discovery of America.
Noteworthy are also the travels from Champlain, Frobisher, Hudson and Lescarbot, the discovery of Florida or the activity of Jesuits. The rest of the work gathers descriptions of voyages to Asia from the 12th to the 15th century, including Marco Polo, Tudele, Jean du Plan-Carpin, Jean de Mandeville, etc. Very rare and important work.
